1. Introduction and Acceptance
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the CarbonGloss website and the provision of mobile car detailing services by CarbonGloss ("we", "us", "our").
By accessing our website, making a booking, or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use our services.
These Terms should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy.
2. Service Description
We provide mobile car detailing services throughout New Zealand, including but not limited to:
- Exterior washing and detailing
- Interior cleaning and detailing
- Paint correction and protection
- Upholstery cleaning
- Specialized detailing packages
Specific services and availability are described on our website and may vary depending on location and package selected.
3. Booking and Confirmation
3.1 Making a Booking
To book our services, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Provide accurate and complete information
- Select your preferred service, date, and time
- Provide a valid service location with appropriate access
3.2 Booking Confirmation
Once you complete a booking:
- You will receive an automated booking confirmation via email
- A booking confirmation does not guarantee service completion until payment is processed
- We reserve the right to decline bookings at our discretion
- You will receive a reminder notification 24-48 hours before your scheduled service
3.3 Booking Modifications
To modify or reschedule a booking, please contact us at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. We will do our best to accommodate changes subject to availability.
4. Payment and Pricing
4.1 Payment Requirements
Payment is required at the time of booking via our secure online payment system (Stripe). We accept:
- Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express)
- Debit cards
- Other payment methods as displayed on our website
4.2 Pricing
All prices are displayed in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) and include GST where applicable.
- Prices are subject to change without notice
- The price charged will be the price displayed at the time of booking
- Additional charges may apply for services beyond the scope of the original booking
- Travel fees may apply for locations outside our standard service area
4.3 Additional Costs
If additional work is required beyond the original booking scope (e.g., excessive dirt, pet hair, stains), we will contact you before proceeding. Any additional charges must be approved by you before the work is completed.
5. Cancellations and No-Shows
5.1 Customer Cancellations
You may cancel your booking according to the following terms:
- More than 48 hours before service: Full refund
- 24-48 hours before service: 50% refund
- Less than 24 hours before service: No refund
To cancel, please contact us via email or phone as soon as possible.
5.2 No-Shows
If you are not present at the scheduled location and time, or if access to the vehicle cannot be arranged:
- We will attempt to contact you for 15 minutes
- If we cannot reach you or gain access, the booking will be marked as a no-show
- No-show bookings are non-refundable
- A rescheduling fee may apply for rebooking
5.3 Cancellation by Us
We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule services due to:
- Severe weather conditions
- Equipment failure or unavailability
- Unforeseen circumstances or emergencies
- Unsafe working conditions
If we cancel your booking, you will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule at no additional cost.
6. Refunds (Consumer Guarantees Act 1993)
Your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 cannot be excluded. Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Consumer Guarantees Act. You are entitled to:
- Services provided with reasonable care and skill
- Services that are fit for purpose
- Services completed within a reasonable time
6.1 Refund Eligibility
You may be entitled to a refund if:
- The service was not completed as described
- The service was not performed with reasonable care and skill
- We failed to provide the service within the agreed timeframe without good reason
6.2 Refund Process
If you believe you are entitled to a refund:
- Contact us within 7 days of the service
- Provide details of the issue and, if possible, photographic evidence
- We will investigate and respond within 5 business days
- Refunds will be processed to the original payment method within 10 business days
6.3 Service Re-do
In some cases, we may offer to re-perform the service at no charge instead of a refund. This will be discussed with you on a case-by-case basis.
7. Service Requirements and Limitations
7.1 Customer Responsibilities
To enable us to provide our services, you must ensure:
- Access to Water: A standard outdoor water tap/hose connection (or notify us if unavailable)
- Power Supply: Access to a standard 230V power outlet within 20 meters of the vehicle (if required for the service)
- Safe Parking: The vehicle is parked on a flat, stable surface in a safe location
- Clear Access: Adequate space around the vehicle for our team to work (minimum 1 meter clearance)
- Weather Protection: Covered area preferred for interior services in adverse weather
- Vehicle Condition: The vehicle is in a condition that allows safe servicing
- Valuables Removed: All personal valuables are removed from the vehicle
7.2 Service Limitations
We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue service if:
- Required facilities (water, power) are not available and we were not notified in advance
- The vehicle condition poses safety or health risks (e.g., excessive contamination, hazardous materials)
- Weather conditions make it unsafe or impractical to complete the service
- The vehicle has pre-existing damage that may worsen during cleaning
- Access or space constraints prevent safe service delivery
In such cases, we will discuss alternative arrangements or provide a refund as appropriate.
7.3 Pre-Existing Damage
Please inform us of any pre-existing damage, wear, or defects before service begins. We will note these conditions and take reasonable care not to worsen them. We are not responsible for damage that existed prior to our service.
8. Liability and Limitations
8.1 Our Commitment
We will:
- Provide services with reasonable care and skill
- Use appropriate cleaning products and techniques for your vehicle
- Take reasonable precautions to protect your vehicle and property
- Maintain appropriate business insurance
8.2 Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for damage to pre-existing defects, wear and tear, or deteriorated materials
- We are not liable for items left in the vehicle (please remove all valuables)
- We are not liable for electronic equipment malfunctions not caused by our direct actions
- Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the service
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by New Zealand law.
8.3 Claims Procedure
If you believe damage has occurred during our service:
- Notify us immediately before moving the vehicle
- Provide photographic evidence of the damage
- Complete an incident report with our team member
- We will investigate and respond within 5 business days
9. Warranties and Representations
We make no misleading claims about our services. While we strive for excellent results:
- Not all stains, marks, or damage can be completely removed
- Results may vary based on vehicle condition, age, and prior care
- Some services require multiple treatments for optimal results
- We cannot guarantee specific outcomes but will use reasonable skill and care
10. Intellectual Property
All content on our website, including text, graphics, logos, images, and software, is the property of Car Detailing NZ or its licensors and is protected by New Zealand and international copyright laws.
You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any content without our express written permission.
11. Dispute Resolution
If you have a complaint or dispute:
- Contact us directly to discuss the issue
- We will work with you in good faith to reach a resolution
- If unresolved, you may contact Disputes Tribunal or seek independent advice

12. Force Majeure
We are not liable for failure to perform our obligations due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, severe weather, pandemics, strikes, war, terrorism, or government actions. In such cases, we will contact you to reschedule or provide a refund.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes arising from these Terms or our services will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
14. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on our website with an updated "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of our services after changes are made constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Material changes will be notified via email to registered users.
15. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
